It's specifically designed to have a clean side (orange side) and a dirty side (black side). The orange side also ensures you don't cook your body parts and dog when the sun is beating down on it and conveniently folds up for for compact storge.

The mat is 22" wide x 59" long x 1/2" thick and when folded up it's 22"wide x 15" long x 2" thick.  Made from durable 18oz PVC Vinyl with thick Nylon seam binding. Each section has 1/2" thick closed cell rigid foam providing ample cushion on your tailgate, gravel and rocks. It will NOT absorb resting surface water, is extremely durable and easily cleans up with soap & water.
